That's another thing I like about the axe. I also really hate that in the >L,L,>L combo, the 3rd L comes out really slowly and is something that you just want to avoid doing at all costs. I mean you can still prime and stuff, but you're still just doing the same combo over and over. Hammer is just LLLR, and it gets pretty dull just doing that. You're charging, but the behemoth performs an attack that will hit you before you reach level 3? Cancel the charge with a dodge, reposition, and charge again! It's another technique that makes you assess the situation to perform the best possible action. What I mean by that is you can charge an attack, but you can dodge in the middle of the charge to cancel it. Also, the axe possesses the unique ability to "cancel" an attack. Like when you do the LLRR combo, after you use the 1st R, you think "Should I dodge or go for the 2nd R?" It's moments like this that make you actively engage with the Axe, and it is what makes the weapon fun. For the axe though, you're waiting for that opening to charge up and strike, and once you do, landing the hit is so satisfying. For the other weapons, you're just mashing buttons to get as many hits in. There are several things that make the axe very satisfying to use: Resolving through attacks, Damage boosts, the chuck.but what made me appreciate the Axe more than any other weapon is that you have to calculate your strikes.
Hammer vs codekit how to#
Today, now that I've learned how to use all the weapons, Axe is easily my favorite weapon in the game, and the hammer became a weapon that I grew bored of and almost avoid using at all. When I started playing Dauntless, the Hammer was my favorite weapon, and I disliked the axe.
